Good grief...

Banana bread, warm and moist, fresh from the oven, slathered with butter and zesty Lemon pound cake topped with sugary crackled goodness. I was hungry and these two fresh-baked treats wafted into my mind as I was trying to fall asleep last night.

Speaking of sleep, it appears that the greatest beneficial aspect of my severe back pain this week is that I have finally been able to sleep and sleep soundly. Wahoo! Hmm... I may have to start working on the things that make me say wahoo. And... I walked considerably farther today, thankfully making pitstops in places where I could lean on counters... and on my way back, stopped in at the pharmacy...  After a long chat with a friend who works there, I ended up not purchasing drugs to alleviate the pain. I am hoping that yesterday was the worst of it. As I sit here typing, I feel I might regret that decision, but... time at a turtle's pace will tell.

This does not compute. How did having back pain allow you to get a full night of sleep? Based on personal experience with an extruded inter vertebral disc at L4-5, sleep was almost impossible even with mega doses of pain meds.
Prayers for your relief are in progress.

I am weird. A chiropractor once came into the office where I worked and asked "How can you sit like that?" I was sitting cross-legged in front of the computer, as I am doing right now. The pain had been coming in waves upon changing positions or movement and yesterday should have been the worst of it. Lying down and finding a comfortable, stable position was what I needed.

This is also my way of dealing with things in general... it hurts like hell but I find a position to lessen the strain or pain ... If it happens again, I am ready.

Thank you very much for the prayers, gladly accepted... but I know there are people in the world who are in much greater need than myself, you included.

Do you think you strained it from shovelling snow? When the pain eases up you should do some daily stretches to strengthen the muscles. Take care. ~J.~

Jeanie!!!
Uh... yeah... snow... that nice fluffy stuff. I've sort of chronicled my journey for the last four days on the blog. And... I have been doing stretching and massaging since it happened... BUT, I also had to shovel a couple times AFTER the initial injury, which didn't help. My back and stomach muscles are strong, but even that didn't help much with this "twist".
