Seeing emptiness...

As I walk down the street
the overcast sky seems
to grow more distant and
my destination farther
than it was.
I see the shadow
of a figure
at the end of the road,
that upon my approach
becomes only emptiness.

I was reading through some old poems that I had written and noticed that I didn't have a date beside this one. I am quite sure that it is from the 90s, and I do know that when I wrote it, it was literal. Funny how the metaphor alluded to then applies moreso now than ever.

Whenever I visit this blog I never know whether you're going to make me laugh, cry or think.
Your poem is beautiful, thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for your kind comment about the poem. If it wasn't for me starting this blog, the poems that I have written since I was a teenager wouldn't have been read until after I had died.

Oh... and "laugh, cry or think"... or ... make you hungry.

Have you ever thought about having your work published?

Thank you Jeanie!

Thought about yes... Even seriously considered self-publishing at some point, but then went back to thinking it was all crappy and left it at that. I wasn't even thinking of posting them on the blog, but it ended up being my outlet for almost everything.
