This was one of the rare occasions when I liked the colour of the flowers in the photo better than the colour in real life, so I get to enjoy them twice.
I could never get Lilacs to grow.

Wait a minute... You live in one of the most temperate climates in the world... You should be able to grow anything the heck you want to. As far as I know, the key is to stick it in the ground and give it water when it needs it.
