Yes, it is the day to celebrate the birth of our country, but I also wish to honour the memory of all those who were willing, able and determined to forge a life in this great country, to sacrifice of themselves and to fight for the freedom we cherish today.

Our kitchen cabinets are from Canada and we like them very much.
Our middle daughter had a friend in grade school (she is in High School now) who was from Canada. Somehow she picked up the accent (my daughter did) and still has it, although she hasn't seen that girl in years.
I played Rugby with a few Canadians, they are very sneaky you know. If you're not careful you could mistake them for Americans.
This is a long comment, sorry.
I was in Ukraine doing some training with the military and a man stood up to speak in a meeting. I wondered why an American would wear such a strange uniform until I realized he was Canadian. He had a Warrant Officer with him that was from Nova Scotia. I had to ask the Ukrainians what he was saying because I couldn't understand his English.

Funny about your daughter picking up the accent. I think it is different from west to east here. Oddly enough though, I had found a "What American accent do you have?" quiz on a blog and I ended up with Boston or something like that, which sort of makes sense if you think about it. I should try and find it.
As for sneaky... Maybe it is just because it is Rugby? You have to be sneaky to avoid being crushed?
Oh, and yes, you had mentioned the chubby Canadian soldier with the weird accent in one of your comments way back.

To imagine the NS accent start with a Maine accent (like a Steven King character) and then take it more north and more east, pushing the envelope. That's what it sounded like.
I meant sneaky like pretending to be American (not on purpose) like William Shatner or Michael J. Fox.
