Have you seen this photograph? Very moving... heart-wrenching. It is a famous photograph which I had seen maybe a year and a half ago or so. Of course I am not posting it because I don't have the photographer's permission to do so. Recently it came to my attention that there was some sort of controversy with the man who took that photograph and the organization known as Soldiers' Angels. If you are wondering, yes, it is their widget for Project VALOUR IT that I have up there at the top of the page, and which I have written about before. The first time was here, and then again here. There are a few others as well, but I think these two are the most pertinent. Anyways, when I first heard about this "controversy" or the denigration of the services that they provide, or the functionality of the organization itself, my first thought wasn't "I wonder if it is true", but rather, "Why would anyone do that?" Originally I read about it on one of my regular blog reads, and then it popped up on another, so I went agoogling for the source, which I found HERE. (There are some lovely flourishes to a rather mean-spirited bent.) To refute those claims, here is the very informative and well-addressed response from Soldiers' Angels.
I highly recommend reading the links, and see what you think.

Yon is, to use that favorite descriptive phrase of CF members, a douche. This is well documented. Instead of building up his own reputation, he tears down that of others. Canada as a country, and the Canadian Forces, have numerous times been targets of his vitriolic lies.
He has been asked to leave his embeds with the CF, and with other forces, due to his attitude and his conduct. Him saying about someone else " Micro-embeds are about image, not substance" is laughable, since that is a classic case of a pot calling a kettle black. He has been found to lay claim to embed that never happened, or that were cut short due to his actions.
Yon has been publicly called out by a number of well respected MilBloggers, Canadian and American alike, in articles filled with facts to back up their criticism. The man simply likes to see his name in print, and does not care what facts he distorts or who gets hurt in the process.
Sorry to write a ranty mini-blog in your comments, but the man makes my blood boil.
Heheheh... No worries about the "ranty mini-blog". Yeah, I'm already somewhat familiar with his antics from prior to this incident and I guffawed when I saw the "image, not substance" comment. The "roadkill stench" bit about TSO and Burden was one of the "lovely flourishes" that I mentioned.
As for him making your blood boil, it's not worth it. My way of thinking is that I have no control over anyone else's behaviour. If someone chooses to exhibit asshole-ish... er... I mean negative... behaviour, it is a flaw in their character. You can perhaps try to bring it to their attention, but in all likelihood, it will fall on deaf ears.
