The last blush of Summer...

A few more pictures I took of the Peace Rose the day before the weather changed. I went to check yesterday and it looks to be that the five remaining buds might not even open, as the temperature is dropping quite low in the evening and the days since have been cold and wet with no sun in sight.

Eating... This or That?

Been a while since I've done this type of thing, and the readership has dropped, so I don't know if anyone who stops by will participate:

1. Spaghetti or Lasagne?
2. Red or White Wine?
3. Fajita or Burrito?
4. Tea or Coffee?
5. Shepherd's Pie or Meatloaf?
6. Pizza or Nachos?
7. Rice or Noodles?
8. Raisins or Dried Apricots?
9. Doughnut or Cupcake?
10. Mashed Potato or Baked?
11. Pasta or Bread?
12. Cereal or Oatmeal?

Ah... my brain just crapped out on me, so that's all I've got...

Cake or Pie?

I really thought I would be Cake...

You Are Pie
You are sweet, but there's more to the story than that. You're quite complicated.
Sometimes people don't appreciate you as much as they should. You are really quite special.

You are deep, thoughtful, and get better with time. You are subtle but powerful.
You are very traditional, and that's a good thing. You remind people of simpler and happier times.

What the heck is EQ?

Well... here's mine...

Your EQ is 133
You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.

You are warm and open. Even when life gets you down, you're unafraid of the world and its challenges.
You are comfortable with who you are. And you accept your weaknesses - as well as the weaknesses of others.

While you are quite stable, you don't respond perfectly to every bad situation that comes up.
But you have enough emotional intelligence to know when you need a course correction.

Not as trivial as you might have thought...

You see it almost everywhere, both the original and its many incarnations, but there is history behind it.

Ooh... the bookshop... Kid, candy store...

A fond farewell...

Yesterday when I got home, the sun was just starting to disappear behind the mountains and I wanted to catch the fading light before it was too late. I'm glad I did. Today... it rained all day for the first time in about a month. Sigh. The sun... the warmth of summer have faded into fall. The cold and drear is here.

I just realized that it has been five days since I last posted anything. That may be the longest space since the very beginning of my journey here. The funny thing is ... I didn't even miss it. Honestly... I have no idea what I am doing here nor what I am going to do where I am. I'm just... cold.

My Wish For You...

I took this picture in the backyard the other day. I wrote this little wish last night. Today I was looking for a picture to go with the words and decided on this combination. I did it on an 8 x 10 page, so the words on this smaller version are rather blurry. I don't usually write stuff like this, so if you can't read it here (or click on the image to see if that is a bit better), I will have it posted in the comments.

(Update: I had tried several times to get the right colour for the words to show up and thought I had it, but I was looking at it again in a larger format and realized that there are parts that I can't see. Dammit.)

That moment when...

Makes you smile... but my heart hasn't stopped beating yet after watching this.

Clinging to summer again...

Today, being sunny, gorgeous and in the mid-20s, I wanted to get a few pictures of the fall garden with the borrowed camera. The hydrangeas have been fading out for a while, but there's still some colour left. I walked around the corner of the house and... was rather surprised...

I guess that once again, I haven't been spending much time outside, even though the summer we've been having has been extended, albeit however that it started late this year. Last time I was out there I cut back this rosebush and figured that would be it for this season.

Oh... and the lavender is pretty much finished now.

I was thinking of cutting the lawn today, hopefully for the last time this year, but I didn't do it. Maybe tomorrow. Hmm... darn it... It is Thanksgiving and I didn't pick up a Turkey TV dinner. Sigh.

Et tu Korn?

Found a link to something on Facebook regarding Korn... Very cool. Brought a tear to my eye.

(The title to this post is in reference to this.)

Oh... yes... 5am... still up... the gurgling begat a horrible rumbling which wouldn't allow me sleep. Not as bad now but ... aghhhhh gahhhhhh...

A stoned zombie with a hangover...hmm...

So very cold... even bundled up. Don't feel as bad today, however I have now developed a cough that sounds rather bronchial and feels as though my throat is being ripped out. I went for that walk Sunday night which didn't help the way I thought it would, and earlier this evening I went for another to get some fresh air and capture the sunset. Didn't go to the regularly scheduled sporting activity last night as I figured it would be rather difficult considering that it felt as though my head was in a different dimension than my body. Couldn't quite breathe properly which was cause for the ongoing headsqiush situation. All in all, I haven't been feeling that crappy, just something akin to a stoned zombie with a hangover. And... again, that is without the benefit of alcohol, drugs OR medication. Nice. Stomach has been loudly protesting something as well, but I'm pretty much used to that. Oh... but I got tonnes of pictures from the walk. No squirrels or bears however.

More to follow at some point, but I should probably settle my stomach and maybe try to breathe sleep. And yay! I'm hungry, but shouldn't eat anything at this hour.

Mr. Sandman don't bring me a dream... sleep will do just fine.

To the moon

Went for a rather long walk this evening, trying to capture the moon. I had to stop a few times because I couldn't see the path before me. At least this time I didn't get disoriented and lose my way completely in the dark, or fall over and rip open my knee.

Anyways... I still haven't been able to get a good shot.

So tonight sitting here thinking about the moon, this song came to mind, which was then followed by this, from the Mancini songbook and Breakfast at Tiffany's. (George looked damn fine in that movie.) Sigh.

(Oh... my head is still stuffed and I should be sleeping. I thought maybe that walk earlier might help clear things up, in more ways than one, and perhaps help induce sleep, however... not quite working. It is now 3:44... Something just feels "off".)
